Installing Flash RAM

Hi... I've been lurking for awhile, and I tried to search for this info, but couldn't find anything.

I just bought an E4k, and it has EOS 3.00b. It came with the 2mb Flash RAM, and I'd like to ungrade the EOS. My question is, how hard is it to install this RAM yourself? I have basic soldering skills, and have built many cables, but I have never soldered a chip to a PC board. Should I let someone else do it? I'm in Austin TX, and I don't know any local music stores that I would trust to work on my keyboard. Should I take it to an electronics/stereo repair shop?

Or should I just stay with EOS 3.00b and install a 9gb scsi internal drive? The current 512mb original internal scsi drive is about to die.

Any advice/ tips appreciated!

I to have an E4K - yes - you need to get it soldered - my tech said it could be tricky - he reckoned half an hour - and it's prob best to get it down by a pro.

Your only hassle is lugging it into a service depot!

Good luck.

Sorry - just re-read your post - are you saying it already has the 2MB in it? If so - then you can update to 4.x or stay on 3.0b.

If you only have 1MB in it right now - BUT - you have the 2MB chip then my previous comment stands.
