When the e4's first arrived the Eos where kinda crap (3 filters? And no sysex?) compared to the Eos most of us are running today. How much do you guys think we could get out of our e4's? For every Eos upgrade that have been released something new, like more filters, had been put in. I mean, maybe an cracked Eos and some good programmers could give us even more out of the e4's and Eos?

Sure find some highly skilled EE's with source code and tools from e-mu and we'll get started, first off I'd like to add either nibbles or tetris.

Seriously, aint going to happen, some other machines have been hacked i.e. the ensoniq ASR/EPS by Waveboy but they actually had something to do with ensoniq at one point and obviously got ahold of source and proper tools to implement such things.

Well, to be honest I don't think it will ever happen, but I've got this feeling that Emu have not quite maxed out the Eos...

Interesting topic. One would think that since EMU has said goodbye to the format for the most part and of course the hardware, If it can be done:
Wouldn't they sell or give up the info so we can keep going w/ updates / upgrades??
I know of one software programmer who I'll ask how difficult the task is.
There must be some group or co. that wants to do it ?
Could it be that hard? Or are they a corporate mess like most big companies now.

I've got a feeling the new Emulator X range is a rehash of some old EOS code and Emulator hardware. I think that is why there is such a reluctance to open source the old EOS software, which of course is a damn shame. They basically bundled together old ideas and technology and put a new interface on it.

The problem is trying to find someone who has the time (financially) to write some new code for the Emu gear. It's just a processor at the end of the day so it doesn't even need to have EOS controlling it

I'm looking forward to the day that Creative/Emu release a new Emulator X with the processing power on the card - something that could be used stand alone too. I never understand why they didn't go down that route in the first place as it would kick arse.
