Got my E5000 ultra today. :loveit:
It has no sounds at all and I don't have SCSI cd-rom / sample cd's, scsi cables, etc. So there's lot of work to be done for preparing this beast.

Here's specs:

Sample RAM 128MB
SW version c4.10a
Channels: 64
CPU RAM: 8MB
CPU FLASH: 4MB
MIDI option = yes (32)
Digital I/O card addon (AES/IBU,spdif)
ASCI / worc clock

Now what? I'm thinking of updating the software first. I'm little bit scared of doing this, if something goes wrong.. Any suggestions for first sample CD or is there free samples somewhere?

Well got to try recording samples now!

Also looking for a cheap scsi cd-rom drive to use with this machine.

Rock, on.

First, sample anything and every thing to make your sounds. Sample test tones, sample a chord out of a rock song and interpolate that and get those old school rave sounding hooks. Mess about with loop points to make sounds. You don't really need sample cd's. After all it's a sampler.

Go here...

You can get the right channel for the Amen Break from it's original source. Sub right for left and you can get the other. Then read my response to the guy who asked about breaks.

Then go here...

http://www.thewickedshade.istemp.com/mu ... nbreak.mp3

This will give you an idea of what can be accomplished with just the first measure or so cut up.

Then... have fun.

Hey King,

I was there once too.
for the scsi cdrom drive :
Ck out your local electronics parts surplus store. They will probably have a used (maybe new) external scsi cd rom drive case and maybe even the drive itself. Find a scsi cable (50 pin) and you are good to go for under $20 usually. They seem to be easy to find and ya don't have too spend $50-100 for this set up like some people charge.
Buy some EMU sample discs off ebay or ck out Polarity studios good quality stuff.

Hey Wig,
They seem to be found on Ebay under
EMU AKAI samples / Catagory: Musical Intruments
They may not list everything they have, so ya may have to email 'em thru ebay.
Quite a selection though.
