how can i tranfer my samples to my emu i have no scsi ... i made an .akp file using recycle and tranfered it via floppy... but the emu doesnt seem to read it it say unknown file type also tried it with sound font 2 ... cant seem to find anything that convert sample to emu format... any ideas?

What version EOS do you have? The EOS 4-0 pdf manual online says that you can load WAV files from floppy.

4.62 (classic) most certainly reads wav from floppy. But it do take ages.

There's a couple of different Akai formats. Akp are S5000 format, but you only S1000 format are readable by Emu samplers.

my emu doesn seem to want to read s-1000 neither ... i converted an.akp... to an.ak1... using chicken sys... and it still shows up as unknown file type....also i tried converting to EOS... it reads the file but all the samples are just white noise ... no beats ....is there something im doing wrong?

The file cannot be over 16 bit, which is why I suspect you are getting white noise.

Does this mean that samples recorded at 24bit/96k akai S1000 formated disc will not load in E6400 classic? Would do load via scsi drive.
Just bought a bundled pack with a great selection.The seller tests the cd's for compatiblilty on many samplers incl. E6400 series.
just want to make sure.

Haven't gotten the discs yet , they are on their way.
The samples were recorded at 24/96.
But wondering if it's an issue.
Will let ya know in 2-3 days if nobody responds sooner

2 - E6400s
scsi cd rom /hard drive rack unit
scsi cd rom stand alone
etc.etc.etc.

Correct me if I am wrong but I have got several cd roms which have samples originally recorded at 24/96 . But I think when putting them on disc they have to go down to 16 bit ? as cd's are only burned at that bit depth?

The 16bit/44.1kHz limit is true only of audio discs as this is a limitation of the PCM disc format. CD ROM discs on the other hand are "data" discs which have a different format and thus can contain audio files encoded in practically any resolution and sample frequency provided they will physically fit on the disc.

Hope that sheds some light on the other poster's questions. It definitely was useful to me.
The s1000 discs I have are all at 24/96 and they load fine 'cept for the occasional quirky preset here and there.
As to what happens once loaded into E6400 does the rate get converted down?

Since the e6400 can only sample at 16bit and 48/44.1/24/22.05kHz, I expect there will be some conversion that occurs on larger sample rates and bit depths when importing from other formats.
