6313 output expansion & e-synth rom

Hi, first of all I'd like to say I'm new to this site and dont have much in the way of technical knowledge regarding the E 4 samplers. Used to make music a long time ago on Emax & Emax 2 samplers, but after a long absence, I'm getting back into it. Had a brief flurtation with Akai but it drove me mad !
Picked up an E-synth ultra (64 meg and expanded with just about everything) and an E 5000 ultra which has a 6313 output board fitted.
As the E-synth is vertually mint and the E5000 a bit tired, I was wondering, is it possible to put the 6313 board in the E-synth, giving it 16 outs, and the E-synth Rom in the E5000, so as to allow 128 meg in the E-synth ?
I have a friend who is able to do this if it is possible, installation instructions for the 6313 came with the 5000 but I would need some software as well ?
Also, as not too familliar with the E-synth, can you not use the Rom and sample at the same time ? I know it takes up a memory slot limiting you to 64 meg but everytime I use the sampler I have to de-activate the Rom or I just get a bad distortion when I sample.
Thanks for your time & great site - Ed.
