Compact Flash storage for older (E64) Emu.

I was wondering if anyone had had any success or otherwise with hooking up compact flash as a storage medium for an older SCSI-based Emu sampler like my E64.
I was considering one of the SCSI-IDE converters that can be found about th place, coupled with the trivial IDE-CompactFlash adaptor.
The nice thing about this would be complete silence and being extremely robust to being moved. Also, once I'd filled up a 512Mb card, it would be easy to move it to a CDROM image.
