The manual is alittle fuzzy on these topics
Wondering about a couple of things:
Can a folder be loaded into ram?
A bank is made of different presets ?
Can a bank be loaded from the HD?
How can I create a bank much like one on an EMU Cd rom disc?
Just trying to load a bunch of presets from HD So I don't have to pick and load presets one at a time.
Thanks in advance

A folder should be able to be loaded...
Yes... A bank is made from different presets.
If a bank is saved on the HD, it can be loaded...
To create a bank is quite simple. Load up all your presets, set the volumes for each... panning... or whatever you want. Then at the screen that has all your presets listed you simply save it from that screen. You should see a button at the bottom of the screen, F5 I think, and there you go. You will have to name it and from there, when you load that file, it will have all your samples, presets, and preset settings all as you left them from before.

Thanks SnH,
run into something,
You said "Then at the screen that has all your presets listed you simply save it from that screen"
I cannot find a list of all presets once they are loaded into ram, only in the HD window under view. When I attempt to load into a bank from ram to HD it asks "destroy current bank?'"
Am I missing a step here?
Also in trying to load a folder, it will only load the selected bank.
Not all the folder's contents. I am selecting in the disk browser HD- Folder- Load .Can it be done another way ?

Goto preset manage, it will not list all presets not at the same time though only one by one.

A bank is the total contents of your Emu (all presets and samples), so it is making you aware that you will erase all samples and presets currently loaded into ram. If you want to keep these you must merge the new bank into the current one, you should be given the option.

Not all the folder's contents.
You cannot load a folder, which is just a collection of banks, you must load the 1st bank and then merge the following banks into that.

Okay understand bout the folder issue.
Now I may be misunderstanding the Bank thing:
I have presets sitting in my ram- under preset manage I jog thru say 4 of them. Would like to merge them into 1 bank say bank 001. Under preset manage I have the option to export preset then to drive-folder- and Bank.
When I select a bank that has a preset in it already all that does upon saving is to erase existing preset and put new one in.
making me think How can I build up a bank of presets?
There is no merge option that I see , Only when loading presets to the ram or banks from cd rom.
I am baffled because I see banks on a cd rom full of presets. Why can't I do the same thing on the Sampler?

To make a bank, I am sorry, I can't remember the screen, all of this is second nature, so let me go look...
The screen you want to hit save at is the MultiMode Screen.
So, starting over again... You make a preset, then another, over and over again, then you load each preset together one at a time. Now you have a preset for you break that you chopped up. A preset with some Test Tones for one of your patches. A preset that has "Rock the funky beat" vocal sample from Public Enemy. And so on. In the Multimode screen, look at the button below it and find the one that says Save. that will save all those presets to one file or bank and when you load that bank up again, it will have all the presets and samples you loaded prior to you saving it. The emu will also default the name to the first preset you loaded, so you will want to rename it so you don't get confused as to which one you want to load.
When you export a preset you are really just saving the preset to the HD. You save the preset, your settings in that preset and the samples. So if you export a preset to an existing bank, it will more then likely mess something up, it appears that you say that it overrides a preset. I have never done it this way.
Lets say when I have a bank already made up of 10 different presets. I want to add a preset that I have already had on my zip, I simply go to the file browser and load the preset. It will give me the option to merge. You hit yes. Then you select what preset number the new preset will reside in. Simple as that.
If you have a bank already loaded, and you want to create a new one, you go to preset manage and create new and find the samples you want to have in that preset. Cause... really... all the samples are accessible from all the presets... so... then once you are done making your new preset, you go back to the multi mode screen and save it. It will tell you that you are going to destroy that bank. You go yes... because you are not really destroying anything... just adding on to.
If you need any more help, I can do a screen for screen tutorial for you. It wont take me very along. Just let me know.

Thanks snh,
Your patience with my questions is appreciated. That info is much clearer now. Followed instructs and away I go to the custom Banks.
Don't know why I couldn't find it in the manual ?
Thanks,
