Sheeeyit - I was just pressing exit on my EMU and I got a static shock! Anybody else ever have this - any potential problems.....

PS. I'm going to be doing a crossfading sounds tutorial in the next fortnight so keep checking back!

that is weird. i don't really understand why you would get a static shock just from pressing the button. i mean they are typically either set up like a keyboard, or like a video game pad, and i wouldn't think that you could get a jolt from that.

i typically get a jolt everytime i touch something metal though... hate grabbing the hand rails at the mall. snap, crackle and pop for sure...

looking forward to that crossfade lesson.

I think it's just me! Lately whenever I get out of the car I get a static shick- and with the emu I'm not even pressing the button - it happens just before my finger would have pushed it had it not got a brief shock

do u wear cotton or polyester clothing? u will often get shocks if u wear polyester shirts, jeans,trackies. I do especially getting in an out of cars

I tihnk that means your unit is poorly grounded, The electricity is using the shortest path to the ground (ie: your finger)
check the cords and power bars, try switching the outlet its plugged into as well. If your still getting zapped then maybe open it up and check out the grounding, maybe something is loose

Thanks guys, it's only happen twice (with 20 mins of each other) - so will see what happens - I have been wearing these 60% polyester shirts for work (don't need ironing!) so maybe they're charging me up with static. If it happens again I'll take a look at the wiring...
