				Midi keybd controller for env

				CME UF6 to E6400 
Would like to have sliders on my UF control env gen for ADSR
I cannot find any guide in EOS manual to do this, let alone in CME's 
UF6 is set up with 8 rotaries and 8 sliders

				Well, what you need to figure out is what CC those particular sliders communicate on. I have a Roland XP10 that has some sliders but I could never get them to automate via the sequencer. And I really couldn't get them to do anything with the emu, the emu doesn't even seem to responde to them. So there maybe a chance that you wont beable to use the sliders for any type of real time moding. One way to figure out if those sliders are doing anything to the emu is to hit view on the multi page, if I remember correctly, you should beable to see the channels going down the screen and a list going across starting with Midi A and so on. If those sliders on your keyboard are doing anything, you should see the CC change on this screen. If not, well, then I simply don't know.

				Most sequencers let you convert incoming midi controller messages to a different controller number. Using a function like this you could remap the controller messages from your CME to something the E6400 will respond to. 
If you have a Classic Emu I think it will only respond to controller numbers up to 32, whilst controllers like yours may send over a larger range. If you can, record a movement of each knob/fader into your sequencer, then you should be able to identify the controller number sent by each one.

				You simply find out what midi cc they're on, write it down, go into your emu somewhere in the midi settings, and change the controllers cc's to the ones you wrote down. I use the sliders on my dx7;)

				Whew !
 Went into midi page and found controllers But there is no reference to Amp env.
I've got a page with  :
midi cntrollers 1
pitch cntrl         switch 1 cntrl
mod cntrl         switch 2 cntrl
press pedal      switch 3 cntrl
ped cntrl
nxt page:
midi controllers 2 
basically a list from midiA thru L with cc #'s
then a page: preferences.
The E6400 is running in multi mode.
Very frustrated Would really like some direction here.

				1. get the CCs of your sliders/dials on the CME and note them down
2. go into the midi menu again and assign MidiA: = (whatever the first sliders CC number is)  - repeat this for MidiA right through to the last one (MidiJ?)
3. now your faders/sliders are mapped to the midi controllers in the emu
4. go into the cords section of your preset and set up a modulation source as MidiA
5. set the modulation destination to FilterFreq
6. you can now control the cutoff frequency of the filter on your preset via your slider.

				Gotcha ya. I have mapped the CME controller knobs to be set at 21 thru 26
then in the E6400 set midi-a to 21 ,b to 22 etc.. 
go to CORDS set cord 6 source to  midi-a /dest to filfreq. 
hit set in ultilities ? or exit out?
either way the knob should sweep the filter ?
But I get no control of it.
what am i missing ?
ps E6400 midi a-l#'s only go to 0 to 32.

				it sounds like you have set up and mapped them correctly.
but
in order to test it properly u should assign that preset to midi slot 1 in your active multi - because ur ccs will always send cc data on channel 1 unless your running thru your sequencer.
also remove any other cord settings and just have the one you mentioned on setting 1

				Resurrecting this topic for a bit 
Is it true that one cannot have an across all presets control of filters when using external controller such as UF6 ?
I was hoping to set control of them and then have control of filters no matter what preset I load or select.

True, it's a 
per Preset respectively a 
per Sample inside Preset/s setting, what you want.

, what I meant was that you are free to define what will be affected by your controller,
either everything via EDIT ALL or single samples. Coming back to your Q, there is no "global" settings that'll overrule the preset ones.

				Thanks RR for the clarification . Unfortunate that the OS does not allow for this.
Would have been nice to be able to set system for 'on the fly'  control of Filters and ADSR like the analog synths of old days.
This "digging deep" type of programming is what drove me away from the DX7 and later digital editing kybds.
Now only to find that the Emu series I love so much otherwise is in the same realm.
I really like to be able to control those features in real time.
