ATTN: PAUL(info)@ Zuonics regarding OS X (Time 2 come clean)

So the OS X Tiger version of the software is still not available obviously. Let me just say that I understand you are a one man show doing this for the love and I respect that deeply. You very rarely update the site in regards to OS X, and leave vague messages on this board which leads me to some questions (and I'm sure a lot of others are wondering too)...
1) Just how far along are you with the development of the OS X Tiger version anyways?
2) If I pre-pay for a version of the software is it guaranteed to come out?
3) Is the recent switch to Intel Core 2 Duo processors gonna mess up what work you have accomplished so far?
4) With OS X Leopard just around the corner, is that going to delay the release that much more as well?
5) If you never release an OS X version of the software would using Parallels on a Mac run ok with your software?
This is that miracle we all have been waiting for. Please for the love of God don't let us down after getting all our hopes up. It's been well over a year of waiting, and I know I'm doing my best keeping the faith.

I have given up on an OS X version being released and plan to buy a Windows machine to run the Windows-would-be-cross-platform version I purchased. Now if Zuonics could at least finish the Windows version, I would consider it money well spent.
For fucks sake Zuonics, the least you could do is finish the Help section!

I've sent an email to Zuonics to see if that helps any. If it is anything worth while I'll post about it here.
I'm sorry to hear that Art, and I'm sure you're not alone. I remember Zuonics posting here awhile back saying that there wasn't enough "Mac supporters" pre-ordering, but frankly I did not want to put my money down on something that wasn't 100% from a small company that really did not inform potential consumers enough about it's product already.
It seems like they have had all kinds of excuses over an excessively long time now such as lack of interest, Java, and SCSI issues (just to name a few) to blame for the delays. I'm trying to be understanding, but after awhile it comes off as just being easier to point the finger at everyone else for the company's short comings.
Even if that software ever did see the light of day at some future date- considering Zuonics' track record I'd be hesitant to purchase the software now until well after a few updates and a slew of fabulous customer reviews.
I just don't see this ever coming out now with all the major changes Apple has made in the last year... at least not a version reflecting all of Apple's newest products in a reasonable timeframe. I could live with using my old G4 tower I guess to run the software.
I don't think considering the company's current track record that it is right for them to take any more money in for an OS X version without a real update on the official site for once such as a beta OS X version, or at least a proper teaser video of the software in action for all the delay and commotion caused.

While there can be many reasons for the silence, I do agree that Paul keeping quiet about ZoeOS is very annoying at this point. If there are development issues, just tell us, we'll understand. At least we won't be sitting here making up stories and getting more and more pissed off at not knowing what's going on. As a paying customer, I'd like to know about the future of the product.

While I had not bought or used the program (running pc)
Wondered if it is a worthwhile thing as far as a pc is concerned ?
Saw the website the other day, can one still buy it ?
Is the issues everyone is having related only to Mac users?

It is functional on Windows based PCs. Though it is not yet a complete program. For example many pages of the user manual do not yet exist years after its release. The v1.5 update meant to address many issues, was postponed about 2 years ago and will seemingly never be released. Very unprofessional. I have seen more effort put into freeware apps. In any case you can download the demo and try it before you buy:

As for the Mac, Zuonics has taken money for a future release on that platform for a couple of years now. So far it's release has been promised on specific dates, then postponed year after year. Zuonics' silence in the matter is only going to hurt them as it's responsible for posts like this one.
On the upside Zuonics is now offering the Windows version for 55 euro, down from a ridiculously high 199 euro. And according to many Windows users it has "breathed new life" into their E4s.

Man, I just learned about this and would love it but don't want to give my money to someone who is potentially being crooked and ultimately pissing off the community that I feel I am an absolute family member of. E-MU users have been dicked by E-MU at this point, but I just don't think I could bother with supporting someone who will ultimately continue the tradition of burning the E-MU community.
I'm sure it's much more trouble than it's worth, but since you have pre-ordered wouldn't you at least have some kind of legal action at least entitling you to a refund ?
If the guy keeps burning the community people should make an effort to boycott his product. Considering his product depends on the Emulator community it would not take long at all for the word to spread and ultimately ruin his years of development. Might sound crazy but that might be what is required for the guy to actually get a fire lit under his ass.
Emulator users have had enough headaches for some new entity to come along and add another one to the pile.......

Well said. The state of ZoeOS is all too reminiscent of the E-MU RFX32 bug fiasco.

After posting that last night I decided to send an email to Zuonics saying that I recently learned of Zoeos and would love to be able to purchase it but at this point I can't consider doing so with the apparent lack of support and features that have yet to come to fruition. I also stated that it sounds like a great program but I ultimately value the Emulator community and its resources more than I can allow myself to purchase another product that might ultimately leave the Emulator community neglected just as E-MU has by abandoning its hardware users.
Hopefully it will offer some incentive... doubtful but I at least felt driven to make my point and add some pressure considering everything.

the product would survive a whole lot better as an open source project.
its not exactly a very competetive market considering that the hardware isnt made any more and, well.. there are no competitors!
i imagine Paul started the project with the intention of doing well out of it financially - thats probably not the case.
It really could be a very powerful, useful and respected piece of software. It just needs more input from the java developer community and some peeps (maybe from round here) that could finish off the manual properly.

So did you get a reply?

Nothing!
I hope they pull through for us all, at least for moral reasons...

I think the lack of response is the answer. Time to give up on Zoeos and use the application as it is, and accept that it will never be upgraded. Certainly there is no hope for a Mac version. I can't imagine Zuoinics making any more sales given their track record. And no sales means no product. I just wish that Paul would come clean with us - that more than anything is most bothersome.

Indeed.
