I recently purchased a set of ESI 32 volumes 1-12 "disks" on eBay . While I haven't gotten them yet I am wondering If my E6400 will load them okay?
Believed these were copied on an ESI-32 as a backup
I though they were cd roms but turns out they are floppies.
Once I get them if anyone is interested in buying them I'll let em go for cheap once loaded into my unit.
thanks

That won?t work, EOS-samplers reading ESI-32 banks only from SCSI.

You think so? Does it say so in the manual?

This may not apply to all EOS machines and may be different according to the OS version used, but the original E4K manual states ("Disk" section, Notes on Bank compatibility, page 2-10):
1/ E4K can load banks from E-IV, e-64, ESI-32, EIIIX, EIII, Emax II, and Akai hard disks or CD-ROMs.
2/ E4K cannot load banks from ESI-32, EIIIX, EIII, Emax II or Akai floppies.
3/ If E4K backs up an ESI-32/EIIIX bank, the ESI-32/EIIIX will no longer be able to read it.

So these floppies will not load into my E6400 classic ?
I am running 4.6 EOS.
If this is true, Are there any other options to grab the banks off them ?
If not I will be listing them on Ebay.

It does apply to all EOS machines, only format that EOS samplers are able to read from floppy* - in addition to it?s own format - is Ensoniq ASR-10 / EPS ones (introduced with EOS 4.6).

Well, only solution was finding someone round the corner who has an ESI, and save them to SCSI drive. Dunno what is on your purchased Disks, worth maybe if they were (good) custom made samples, if they were backupped from Emu library then they?d appear on some Emu CDR anyway (you can check/compare for bank names if your disks are properly labeled), you may hunt for one of those then.

Thanks very much. I already have a number of EMU cd's
Looks like they go to Ebay then
There are 11 of them Would let 'em go for 20-25 bucks.

There is a free application called Esi-Win available on the net (I used to use it with my Esi-4000). If you run it on a PC equipped with a SCSI card, I think you can extract the samples from floppies (you certainly can from HD), which you can send back to the EIV over SCSI if you have the right application to do this, but you have to re-map them and re-create the presets yourself.
Probably not worth the hassle, and I no longer have any Esi disks to try it out.
