Can I change seq /arp pitch in real time while it's playing, say using my kybd controller ?
thanks

what do you mean exactly. The first thing that comes to mind is the use of the pitchwheel. I haven't really used the arp too much so I don't know if the emu would limit that. But I think just using the pitchwheel would do something for you. I would think.

It depends what you mean by "change seq/arp pitch". The pitch of the notes that are generated by the seq/arp (the note numbers), or just changing the pitch of the preset being played by the seq/arp?

I can't think of a way to change the actual note numbers generated by the seq/arp, so if you were using it do drive downstream MIDI modules (hey, some people do that), you'd be out of luck (unless you bought an outboard MIDI processing unit that had that feature).

If you are just changing the pitch of the preset the seq/arp is playing internally, then just make sure you have a controller letter assigned to that MIDI controller (pitch-wheel, mod-wheel, touch-strip, knob, slider... whatever) AND a patch-cord connected to "pitch" in the preset. Or route the same controller letter in the E-mu to pitch on each preset and send on any channel, since it treats the controller letters globally... then all presets being played will change pitch in sync (very cool if you have synchronized loops playing on several presets)

Oh, and obviously, you probably don't want to use a controller letter in the E-mu that's doing something completely different in another preset that's also playing (or maybe you do? time for some experimentation).

Looks like I hit new topic instead of reply

Sounds like the latter part of your reply is what I want to do.
There was a feature on the old Roland JX3P that as you ran a sequence or arpegg you hit any key to change pitch on the fly. That's where i'm getting the idea from.
So basically doing the same thing as a pitch wheel but using a button or the key itself

sampleandhold in another topic wrote:well... what comes to mind is this: Set the sound that your going to arp to say an octave or less. What ever range you see your self using. Then set up in the matrix mod a glid cord. If I remember right, you could take like key+ or something like that, link it to glid and put at whatever percentage sounds right and what should happen is when you hit a key that is out side the range you set for the arp, the arp should jump up to that pitch you hit dependant on the percentage you hit.

So basically, you hit the key in the arp range and while holding that down, hit a key out side the arp range and it will bend up. But I think it will happen quite rapidly. If this isn't clear, I can try to set it up in my sampler and give you a more concise instruction. So basicually, you'll just be playing intervals.... sort of.
