Hey guys, I've had my e5000 for about a month now and I've read through the manual but I'm still a little confused.

What I'm trying to do is (for right now) is use my e5000 as an all in one box. My e5000 came with some presets already installed on the HD. My main style of music hip hop and what I can't understand is how to make a full song in the sequencer. Do I have to create a preset first with all my samples and then go from there. And if so, how can I load, lets say a bass preset, from the hard drive without erasing all the sample I've recorded from the ram?

I'll gladly reply, but I gotta concentrate on my assignment on vocal traditions. I'll give you a reply next week.

that would be a good idea. Just make presets as you like - i do one for drums, one for percussion, one for bass etc etc..

Not much point in sequencing until you have your sounds really. but if you wanna do some presets, save them in a bank, then sequence the presets, save the sequence, then go back and make more presets you can do.

Well as you record your samples you need to save the bank, then the samples become attached to that bank.

Thanks for the replies guys. So if there is a preset already on the hard drive I just copy that preset to my new bank and sequence from that. Do I have it right?

no

when you boot up your emu there is no bank loaded.

so its effectively a clean slate - empty bank, empty preset.

click new preset and start at preset 001, add as many as 999 to the bank.

(not that you will ever need that many)

when you feel like it, hit the save button and choose a location to save your bank.

next tiem you boot up your emu, choose load and load up that bank.

sequences are different items from presets, but are stored in banks just the same.

no worries.

it takes a while to really get your head around it, just read the manual a bit more and it will sink in over time

basicall it works like this

BANK
====

PRESETS SAMPLES SEQUENCES MULTIS

Banks are the big daddy that just contain everything.
Presets and samples are not hierarchical (this is a concept i struggled with at first)

You can import presets or samples from other banks if you like.
