Im wanna put a laptop drive in my emu, i have a special ide cable that goes from regular 3.5 inch ide to 2.5 inch laptop ide connection. I havea spare 40 gb lap top hdd here and It does not require any seperate power cable. Anyone else tried this?

I know I need to update to 4.7 first to use ide and FAT which is a prob of its own as the EOS7 exe from emu keeps prematurley aboritng when I try to make the image to floppy from dos , but thasts another story!

I made mine.

I had to splice together two different cables.

I had to cross the yellow cable with the red, and everything was cake.

I just used heavy duty velcro to attach the drive to the case.

I also used a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter. that needs no special wiring

Unfortunatly this isnt a laptop hdd its scsi , also it doesnt show you how to do the cabling for power.

strange thing is my laptop drive doesnt usually require any seperate power, anyone else here installed a laptop hdd in their emu, can you help me out with the power wiring?

many thanks.

i have a cable that converts 3.5 ide to 2.5 ide but it has a molex attached to it aswel, dont usually need that with my 2.5 inch enclosure but it wont spin up with it or without it. I even attached a power adaptor that fits the emu hdd power port but no idea how to do the wiring.

you have to swap the red and yellow cables

If you do it wrong you will destroy your drive

i used one of these
