Important questions before buying an EMU E4 Ultra sampler...

Hello All,
I have the intention of buying again an EMU Ultra sampler. Years ago I had a E4XT Ultra but never got into it and the hassle with SCSI turned me off somewhat.
But now I'd like to set up the following:
E4XT or E4 Platinum Ultra sampler -> via SCSI to a laptop with a PCMCIA-SCSI adapter
I know I need the sampler to have EOS 4.7 for FAT32 support so I will make sure it has if I go for the E4XT, because the E4 Platinum with the RFX card will give troubles.
What I want to do:
a) use Recycle v2/Soundforge v9 via SCSI on my laptop to send chopped samples to the EMU,
b) access the EMU harddrive
c) store sample data on the laptop/PC harddrive and access it from the EMU, so I want to be able to access with the EMU IDE harddrives (I will NOT be using any SCSI harddrives)
Overall these questions arise:
1/ If I get the Platinum, what is possible for me to use with the laptop in accessing my IDE harddrives ? Since EOS 4.7 will be out of the question leaving me with EOS 4.61 or 4.62
2/ If I get the E4XT will that be better in this wanted work scenario?
3/ What is currently the best possible editor ? Sounddiver or ZOes ?
4/ Where to find serious tutorials in really (ab)using the sampler ?
PLease advise ASAP.
THANKS!
