Do any members have any advice on CD Rom/CDR for the E6400. Currently my sampler has an internal IDE drive and I would like to load/save samples from the ROM drive to the hard drive.

I have a SCSI 2904 card and need to purchase a cable for both - can anyone suggest where I can purchase a new cable from???????????????

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

I got all mine from Ebay, but beware, there are three main types. Make sure you get a cable with the right connectors. Have a look on Ebay to see what they look like if you're not familiar with them. If you are, stop reading here!!!

1. C50M (50-pin centronics): that's what you need at one end if your sampler is anything like my E4K.

Other end, depending on the female SCSI socket on your external drive:

2. male HD50 (High Density 50-pin)
or
3. male DB25 (25-pin) - less common - I have only ever seen them on Iomega Zip drives.
or
1. 50-pin Centronics

I have had a look at my own external CD-ROM player but I can't find a brand name on it, so I can't help you there. All I know is that it's VERY old and heavy but it reads CDs/CDRs without any problems.

Thanks for the info I have an adaptec 2904 I think it has a 50 pin scsi interface.

I have an old yamaha scsi cdrw in my old pc, I wonder if that would work in an external scsi caddy??
