Hello,
I would like to install a 15gb IDE Hdd (Quantum Fireball) into my E6400 Ultra.
I don?t have the original installation Kit. What can I use instead (cables etc.)?
How should the installation be done (installation order, connections, which OS)?
Furthermore I would like to copy my cd?s on the HDD without any scsi device. Is it possible, how?
Thank you!

First thing you have to check is your EOS version. IDE drives are suported starting from EOS 4.01. Now, I don't know about the cables... (check the forum, there are several topics dealing with internal hd cables) But in case you get them, all you have to do is set the drive to cable select using the jumpers. Then connect power cable and ide cable, screw the drive along the internal side of the sampler, right behind the floppy drive, put your cover back in place and fire it up! Formatting your drive is explained on page 363 of the EOS 4.0 manual.
EOS 4.7 can format drives in the FAT standard PC format, which can be useful, but this beta os is said to be somewhat buggy...
As far as your cd's are concerned, if you don't want to connect an scsi cd, well... You'll probably have to connect your sampler to your computer using scsi anyway, and dump the samples. Maybe there's a simpler way, maybe using EOS 4.7 so you can plug a FAT formatted drive to your computer... Then back into the sampler. But I don't know about that...
I think EOS 4.7 lets you read aiff and wav files directly. Otherwise, software like CdXtract can probably convert to EOS format banks.

It's an ordinary HDD power cable from a PC, but the power polarity is reversed - you need to swap over the two outer wires in the molex (if I remember correctly, they're yellow and red - leave the two black inner wires as they are).
