mpc 2000xl & e-mu 6400 ultra snyc problem

Hello everyone. this is my first post in the forum and as you can guess easily, i need help.
I love mpc 2000xl's legendary, rock-solid sequencer and big fat pads to whack with my hands. But they are limited in terms of pure sampling power. That's why i bought a e6400 ultra. & i did the following connections:
MPC midi (a) out > e6400 midi in
e6400 main out > to inputs 1/2 of my sound interface
I'm trying to sync it with my mpc (via midi), but i cannot. Before to start I updated E-mu's os to the latest & then checked the hard disk to see if the vendor left some sounds on the hard drive. i couldnt find anything then i formatted its harddisk in fat format and loaded some drum samples & created a bank.
Anyways... i'm a newbie to the samplers. i looked for a couple of forums but i couldn't find any instructions about how hook it up with mpc's. if somebody can help or give me some suggestions i'd be very happy.
thx
