has everyone owned their emu's??? and is it the 'centre piece' of your studio??? how much do u use it compared to other hardware, software??

i've had mine now for about 3/4 of a year almost a year, but have only just in the past three weeks been able to sit down and work out how to use it!!! that goes for my producing to! it is my main bit of kit apart from my pc! and at the moment i'm doing everything with it so that i can leaen what it can do etc, and kind of add to my production!

what about you lot?

i just got mine in december, i got an E4 platinum. i would have to say it is the centerpiece of my setup along with my mac running logic and my soundtracs mixer. as far as software instruments i basically just sample the Emagic ES2 into my EMU via ADAT. i want to get the EVP88 though, that thing sounds reeeeally nice. but all of my drums/breaks/bass come out of the emu. so yes it is indeed the centerpiece

i have mine for about a... three years maybe. i can't really remember. i know it has out lasted many a girlfriend. and it is indeed the centre peice of my studio. to tell the truth i can't really remember a time with out that bad boy. even if i get a mulit thou synth, i am going to still use that sampler. i use it to make synth sounds and all.
to my horror, last night as i was trying someting out. i discovered that some of my buttons were ascew, like they had been pushed in on one side. the buttons that i actually hit most. but i eventually figured that i just wear them off on the sides (i have my sampler kind of sideways, lack of room). quantium physics is very real.
i am getting a keyboard and the dwaw board thing for that sampler this weekend i think. i also have to take it apart and clean it too....

I've had my e5000 for about a year now. I use it along side cubase and a few synths (MS2000 & Microwave XT). I normally use it for drums, some bass and random sounds; it is basically the centerpiece. I was using FL before this and what a difference in sound quality and ability! I still have a SB live card but I'm getting a Delta 44 soon so I'll be able to record 4 mono tracks at once.

The one thing I really don't like about the emu is the RIDICULOUS upgrade prices. I really would love the RFX card, but then you have to get 8 additional outputs etc. I'm sure it's well worth this though from what I've heard.

mtthwwllm, any chance you wanna sell yours to me for $15.99 ? :biglaugh:

I guess I've had the 6400ULT for a little over 2 years now. It's def the centerpiece of my studio. Every sound I use goes into it at some point, whether that sound comes from my supernova or elseware. Occasionally, I might have a sound that has so much automation in the Fireworx (FX) that I don't resample it back to the EMU. Also sometimes I prefer compression to be "live" but besides that everthing comes direct out of that bad bwoy and everything goes through it at some point.

Ive had my Emu 6400Ultra for about 1year 2 months. It is most definatly my center peice, though ive gotten into the VSTis a little bit more, the first year was stricky emu. Ive gotten pretty good with it actually, but im always interesed to hear how others are using theres, you learn alot that way
