probably FAT since Macs cannot read EMU disks without special software. I have done this with 10.4 and Zip disks with success, but I could only load 1 wav/aif at a time - less than usable for me, so I am using SMDI with OS 9 instead.

Your kidding?

my solution was to use a USB KVM with an old OS 9 mac filled with SCSI cards. I just switch to my OS X mac for sequencing and mixing, switch back to the OS 9 mac for hardware sampler interfacing, and legacy goodies that were never ported or I decided to not upgrade.

Next I may get a 4 port KVM so I can add a PC to the mix as well.
Old computers are so cheap, or free that a $30 USB KVM (I use IOgear) really opens up a lot of doors for these SCSI samplers without adding any more desk clutter.
