Check it out, it means that you can get rid off all those zip-discs, and all that other shit, and 110$ might be the price of half an emu, but, hey, cf-cards are practical.

Way ahead of ya. Bought a Kurzweil with a dual card reader/writer built into the floppy and its scsi so everything can see it. Your right compact flash is the go. An 8GB compact flash card holds all 24 of my sound CD's with room to spare.

Backing up couldn't be any easier. I now back up all my EMU sounds to dvd and will just copy them back to cf if I have to.

Life is good.

Has anyone mounted the drive internally in place of the floppy drive?

I tried that, problem was when I removed the floppy, the OS on my Ultra would not boot - so I then mounted the floppy internally, and moved the SCSI CF drive to the bay - it worked, but then I ran into issues when also using PC/SCSI on the other end of the bus - despite trying every combination and termination approach, I could not have this:

* Ultra with internal SCSI CF (terminated or not)
* PC with SCSI with external connection.

It only worked when the CF Drive was in the middle of the physical chain.

So, I left it like that - CF SCSI, ZIP drive in the middle, PC + ZIP on end, Ultra on other end, termination on both physical ends.

If anyone has got an internal drive to work with an external PC or Mac scsi let me know.
