I know that this forum has had topics about which hard drives work in the emu ultra samplers, but can someone tell me what are the specs for a hard drive to be compatible with an ultra sampler. Will any ide/ata laptop drive work? How is a scsi internal different than a laptop drive? I have a 20 gb hitachi travelstar 4200 rpm. Will this work? I need to get a drive onto my unit so I can store samples. Also is there a mounting hit that is needed or can it just be installed with the existing cables/ wires in my E4.

thanks in advance.

OK after doing some research on emu.com I found the compatibility. More questions come up. Their site says the drives' maximum drive spin amperage is 1.7 amps/12 volt. Does anyone know if the drive spin can be higher? They also say that some power harness is needed. Is this true and besides EPR does anyone know where they sell them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

If any one uses laptop HD's which work listing model lnames would be a great help. I have tried a couple of drives which have not been reconised by my E-mu. So if we could get a list togeather that would be cool.

Cheers guys

Samsung 2,5", 80GB Spinpoint works perfectly
with 3,5-->2,5 IDE adapter and is less demanding
for the power supply, than the original 3,5" hd.

To be more precise:

SAMSUNG Model HM080GC (80GB, 2,5" Harddisk)

works perfectly... while running so silently.
