E4 Platinum + E-Synth ROM + Orbit/Phatt ROM Q - Pls help

Hi, long time reader of this forum (4+ years), finally getting around to registering. You guys really know your stuff and I hope the Esteemed Panelists can help with this question.

I recently came across a NOS E4 Platinum (New Old Stock), sealed in box.

I would like to make that unit my replacement for my existing E4XT Ultra (128 MB RAM, E-Synth ROM, Orbit/Phatt ROM, 8 Output Expander, Glyph Rackmount CD-ROM/Hard Drive).

I want to remove the 2 ROM cards from the E4XT Ultra and install them in the E4 Platinum. The ROMS themselves should snap in easily enough, and the preset floppy disks for the ROMs should install the presets. I have all the original instructions and floppy disks that originally were shipped with the ROMs.

However, I am concerned that somehow, some way, loading those floppy disks will mess up the E4 Platinum's operation.

These ROMs and their floppy disk data were designed 3 years before the E4 Platinum shipped, and thus are based on a much earlier EOS operating system than that in the E4 Platinum. The ROMS were designed for installation on the E4XT Ultra and THAT corresponding EOS operating system.

I don't want a scenario where I find that loading up those ROM floppies conflicts with the much later E4 Platinum's EOS operating system and causes that operating system to become unstable or crash.

I would like to know if anyone has actually "retrofitted" these old ROMS into an E4 Platinum. Any comments, even speculation, would be greatfully received. Logic tells me there should be no problem with loading up the data on the ROM floppies, but my old studio instincts tell me not to assume anything. Thanks!!

My E-mu equipment: Emulator II+ HD, E4XT Ultra, E4 Platinum, Emax I HD Plus, Emax I HD SE Rack.

Wow, wouldn't mind owning that :loveit:

And since the Platinum is actually full-option loaded E4XT Ultra and you have everything you need (ROMs/floppy preset data/instructions) I see no problem why it shouldn't work, i.e. I can't recall that I read about problem, neither here nor on old Emusaic list (RIP).

Thanks for your input on this. I guess I'll hold my breath and try loading up the floppies.....! Hope I don't get "disc error" or other lovely messages. I've just had too many situations in the studio where everything in theory should have worked and it didn't. But I guess that's every musician's story!

Thanks again.
