I know this is an odd question but im sure i remember being told this sample was in one of the EMU sample libraries.. so maybe someone on here will recognize it?

i don't know if it was ever on an emu sample bank, but it was definitely on the ill-fated "dance" expansion board for roland jv1080 synths in the mid 90s

that sound was all over the place

it's also used, in a much lower register, in that nelly and kelly rowland song "dilemma"

ah yes i remember that Nelly track being played on the radio.
That was actually the point when i realised it must be a common sound and not one made/sampled by the trance producer
