E-synth internal HD, communication & file type

Hi guys!
I've almost bought an e-synth (non ultra), but when i went to get it, the seller told me that the internal HD was not waking up (ZZZ...)
It seems that the HD died...
Then he added he has no CD drive for it...
(The board has the latest OP, he said)
My questions:
-Do you advice me buying it anyway?
-What kind of HD should i get? ANY SCSI 50 pin HD? (please HELP in here!! I'm not in USA so if u tell me a part number/serial code, etc. it's not helpful!) 7200rpm? Size limit? Anything else?
-If i want to edit the samples in my comp: is it a drama to transfer them to the comp? are they .WAV files? Can somehow be .WAV files?!! Can I use an IOMEGA ZIP/JAZ DRIVE (scsi)? Something easier?
I guess that's it...
Just don't want to go back 10 years ago with smth i haven't paid for yet...!
Thank you VERY much!!!
