Emulator III

A good friend of mine gave me the possebility to test an Emulator III.

I?m sorry, but I have to tell you this sampler is a holy dream machine. The sound has deepness and warmth. The main outputlevel blows your ears away even if the controlslider is half closed. By the first tone you are back in the 80ies (in a positive way of sounding). I?m actually using an EIV but in comparison to the "older" version it sounds like a toy.

Best wishes and a happy new year!

I also have read on a forum from experienced sound guys i tend to trust, that everything under E-Mu label produced after ESI-32 sounded much much worse. Generally speaking it was Creative selling their stuff under E-Mu logo.
So the good stuff are EIII, EIIIxp, ESI 32, and models produced before them. I did not compare myself, but owning EIIIxp and ESI 32 I'm very satisfied with the worm deep sound.

hello evoluzione!

It was a few days before 2002. On Ebay germany someone sells the EIII. Start price was 1,-DM!!!
The seller really don?t know something about the EIII.
He told me, that he bought a complete studio (equipment) from an US-Army Base in south germany.
The only thing he know was, that this EIII has a broken power supply.
During this auction he got a lot of questions, but he couldn?t answers these.
He stopped the auction (too much stress for him), sent me a private email, and asked me, if i would buy the EIII, because i was the first guy who asked during the auction, and the first guy who gave him more information about the EIII.

Including package and transport, i?ve got it for 300,- DM (150Euros)

It arrived a few days later. It was a very late modell, with only 4MB ram, but with the pal eproms for the 8MB ram version!
After installing the 8mb ram, i drived to PMS (one of germanys EMU service centers), and there was/is a guy who loves EIII. he repaired the power supply and changed one VCA/VCF chip. he checked the hole unit.
This repair was in early 2002, so i payed 250,- Euros for it.

Also the complete cost was 400,- Euros.
And it is in nearly perfect condition!
The studio in the US-Army base used this EIII for only ONE jingle on her radiostation!

sometimes you need some fortune
