Has anyone checked whether it's possible to connect the EMU to
another piece of gear via SPDIF by using a simple cable-adapter
and EMU's SPDIF-mode for its AES/EBU-connection?
I'm also searching for the pin assignment of the EMU XLR AES/EBU
connectors, or is it an absolut standard?

I have been using a cable wired as described in the following article for many years without any problems:

Thanks STU, that's good news. How about the software setting inside the EMU.
Have you checked whether the SPDIF mode also adapts the voltage
signal from 5V (AES) down to 0.5V (SPDIF)?
I'm going to insert the Command Station via SPDIF into the Ultra to
take advantage of the nice RFX effects.

Fantastic, the connection SPDIF Command Station --> EMU ULTRA
works flawless.
In SETUP/IN-OUT page, you can only choose the OUTPUT format of
the AES connections. So I guess, the INPUT is just sensitive enough
to also catch the 0.5V SPDIF signals, while offering a kind of PAD
switch to lower the output signal.
Anyway, for safety, I'll insert that 110 Ohm resistor between signal
and cable shield if using the outputs of the Ultra.
Thanks for your help.
