Hello Esynth people.
I have a rack version E-Synth Classic.. OS 3 or so. The manual says that when I start it up I am supposed to have presets ready to go. But there is nothing loaded until I manually load bank from the rom or cd.
I don't remember if it used to be different , it has been years since I last used it but I am using it again now.
I know with my M1, it acts like this when the battery dies but I don't see any reference in the manual to a battery. It just says "if you have an esynth, there are presets loaded when you start up.
Did I accidentally erase them or something??
Is there a "restore" preset function?... also can't find any reference to that in the manual.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Tim

I guess the E-synth has a ROM card inserted in one slot and RAM in the other. Open the machine and see if the ROM card is correctly inserted, assuming it is there at all.

It definitely has the e-synth rom in it ... I can load the bank that is on the rom manually... by hitting load and browsing to the rom... the bank is named erom v1.2 and the presets start with some grand pianos.
I was under the impression from the manual that when I turn the unit on there will be some presets already loaded with out having to go through the loading banks process...
I think some one said eosmosis is supposed to be first... which I see is on a floppy called "esynth big bank"... unfortunately that disc is shot and can't load the bank.
I have the Esynth Disc 2 floppy.. bank is called Alterations and that works fine. I load bank and it's good but once I turn off the machine "resident" "preset" and "sample" all show 0 and I have to go through the whole loading banks thing again.
I think I'm not understanding all these names for memory...
but more so I think I'm just missing a step of saving but the manual is baffling...
again, any insight would be greatly appreciated...
Also I would love if someone has that "ESynth Big Bank" Disc they could share.
Thanks again

Is the ROM load turned off in the ESynth? I have an ESynth and there is an option to disable the Sound ROM:
1. Press the Master button. The LED illuminates and the Memory
Statistics screen appears.
2. Press the Setup function key (F3). A second row of function keys
appears.
3. Press the Misc function key (F3). The Miscellaneous menu appears.
4. Move the cursor to Disable Sound ROM using the cursor buttons or by
pressing the F4 function key.
5. Select Yes to disable the Sound ROM using the Data Entry Control, or
INC/DEC buttons.
6. Press the Exit button twice to return to the Memory Statistics screen.
7. Reboot the system.
Enabling it is just the opposite... Good Luck

Hi thanks all..
I found it.
It was just a matter of saving bank to flash... duh... i feel stoopid.
I still could use the "big bank" Eosmosis disc or presets data if anyone out there has it...
Thanks again.
