Just interested in the average age on this site and how many years you've used your E--MU (in any variation)...Nads

I'm 28 and have used various E--MUs for about 5 years.

I'm 28 as well.

Got my first EMU (e5000) in March of this year.

I did buy an e6400 ultra last december second hand from a guy on Sound on Sound reader ads in December but it was bust and sent it back.

Before that was using an Akai s2000 for 5 years (Still in use as a drum machine)

22 and using an Emu 6400 ultra for 3 years

I'm 27, I've had my E6400 Ultra about 3 years or so.

i am going to be 25 on december 13th....

used my emu since... well, hard to remember... six or seven years. i think i got it in 97 or 98... when they first came out i believe. it was either that or a roland sp808. i think i made the best choice.

I'm 23 and I have been useing the E4 Platinum for about a year. before that I was useing MPC 2000XL for drums, and every thing else was out board. now its just Emu, and the Avalon sp-737.

i'm 25 and i got my first e-mu (e64) in 1999, i sold that about 5 months ago after purchasing an e6400 ultra w/ rfx card straight from e-mu HQ in cali. the only shitty thing is that my rfx card came broken . every time i use it my sampler freezes or comes up with a fatal error message. but at least its still under warranty and i have to send it somewhere in montreal to get it fixed or replaced. other than that this machine is incredible, i'm still learning new things every day either on my own or with the help of you guys ...easy.

I'm 27, been using my e6400 (classic) 4 years now. I was previously using an ASR 10 & had a love hate relationship with it. After dealing with the common problems (crashes, repair several times, SCSI limitations). The best logical choice was the E6400. Once I sold the ASR & booted up EOS I never looked back. I can honestly say the Emu samplers are of pure quality. Very few crashes & I've never had to bring it in for repair *knock on wood*. Bought it second hand I might add.

But contradicting my statement...... I must say the ASR10 had features that were very ahead of its time. To bad Emu bought out Ensoniq & took their concepts to the grave.
Though it was rumoured Emu was going to improve on the ASR10 it never happened.

I had a problem similiar to yours. Check my thread in troubleshooting "My E6400 is possesed"

Just disable the RFX card or take it out. The FX aren't really anything special anyway. In my experience, onboard FX are just cheap party favours. If you want FX buy some outboard processors or use plug-ins.

30 ere owned my E4XT Ultra fully bombed for almost 1 year...used it no more than 8 hours since i have had it wish to use it more, but the usual tin like, no time, too tired or lazy has prevented me from gettin into it....LOVE ITS SOUND THO!!!!! what a machien...i want another one....hopefully a Platinum if i can get one cheep.

Anywayz, first sampler was a Kurzweil K2500S...go tthat back in , i dunno (faded memory) circa 95-6. Does have many lovely abilities i wish the EMU had, build quality is total sh!TE...never buy one again but aint worth selling so it can gather dust or be used as a controller for all i care....(lovely key action tho)

Im 27. Been using the EMU e6400 ultra for about 2 years. Before that I had an Akai s2000. Before that I had Cool Edit and Soundforge =D

I'm 27 and've been using an E-5000 for about 3 years. I just bought an old E4X for the extra outputs. I'm still learning EMU's though. So much to learn.

I'm 29. e6400 in 1997 and an e6400 ultra in 2002.

I'm 20 and i've had my e5000 for 18 months, or so. before the emu i used an assortment of unreliable soft samplers and had a brief encounter with an akai s1000 of dubious origin.......emu makes me happy
