Well I see some 40's but I think I get the prize for oldest poster, 48.
I do FX and sound for theatre and film. Used to use an EMAX for FX in the late 80's-early 90's. I had/ have a couple of AKAI's (S01 & S2800). They were fun but the file system sucked. Film FX is mostly Syncavier (now there's a portable rig ;~) ) or E4, so I used them but never plunked down the cash to own one. Then came eBay... Got an E4X for about $250 and put in a HD and had a great time. I was feeling like I would really like to upgrade the beast and then...eBay again came to the rescue. A E6400 that had been upgraded to a full E4XT Ultra, I think the 6400 on the front scared folks off and I got it for just over $400 and already had a buyer for my old one for $300 so the upgrade was just over $100. This baby is really nice and fast. And its platform independent!!! When I moved from OS 9 to OS X (Mac) my soft samplers went away. The one I was going to upgrade wanted $150, I though the EMU was a better deal! Then a month ago the soft sampler Co. went under so the EMU was a MUCH better deal.

Recently swapped the SCSI internal for a nice BIG (60 gig), quiet IDE drive. It just gets better! And one day away from 49.

I'm 42. Used an ESI32 back in the mid 90s, bought a Yamaha A3000 when it came out, sold it recently (hadn't used it for years) and have just got an e6400 ultra... great machine! I wish I had had this right from the start (couldn't afford it then, of course)...
despite my age, I still like DnB (Paradox, Klute...) but quite a lot of other music, too...

33, been using an emu since 98. Currenly have an E4XT Ultra but have had at one time or another Emax, Emax II, E6400 and another E4XT. Started out strictly DnB but got out of it a couple years back, who knows what I'm working on now...

As far as DnB goes, Ed Rush and Optical to me are the kings, Bad Company (pre-shot down on safari anyway), the RAM crew, the old No U Turn and Renegade Hardware, almost all Metalheadz, Source Direct!
