Creating a drum kit

What I want to do is create a kit, kick drum on C3, snare on C#3 and so on. I have used translator to convert the .wav files on put them on the Jaz drive, thing is, it's saving them as banks and not letting me view them as individual samples.
I can load up the sounds on the sampler but only as presets and I have managed to load up all the sounds on a different preset, am I right in thinking to do this I must somehow get all the samples into one preset? The manual is just making my head spin (i'm getting old)
