E4k Flash upgrade to EOS 4

Does anyone have the 2mb flash upgrade for the E4K turbo? I have EOS 3.00 , I think the keyboard version requires a specific part that is different from the EIV rack types. What operational advantages does the upgrade offer? bearing in mind that the hardware itself must be a bit creaky with the newer features designed for a faster CPU. I know that maybe a few more filters are there, but for me -big whoop -as i rarely use them like some dance fanatics i know. Mine is for stacking and mangling experimental noise type music
Any help appreciated ;)

that rom is very rare, i doubt you will be able to find it, keep checking ebay though. ive used both eos 3 and 4 and theres not really much difference, same filters. the only thing that i can think of that i can do with eos 4 that i cant do with 3 is that you can hook up to a pc with scsi and send samples.

HUGE DIFFERENCE!

EOS 4 + lets you put the hard drive to sleep... Difficult to find flash RAM, though, and
attempts at upgrading via floppy has 'bricked' two units so far. Sad...

The question is if a Boot Flash SIMM for the Ultra-Series also works with the E4K, E6400, E4X or E-Synth/E-Synth Keyboard.

At EPRElectronics a 72-pin Boot Flash SIMM with pre-installed EOS 4.70 is currently offered for approx US $80.
If this fits also for non-Ultras, execpt e64 & EIV because of different SIMM-sockets, a downgrade to EOS 4.62 would be possible.

Unfortunately, it will not work with NON-ULTRAS.

Does it still spin up?

If yes, I recommend to make a backup-image to a PC (if you are a Windows-User) with Disc2File.
if there's something wrong with the Boot-Sector or FAT sothat mounting fails, you might be able to recover the disc.
It then might also be possible to read files via Translator or Ex-Translator.

There will come the day when the hard drives die ...

Hi-
Feels like it's spinning, but goes through the "mount" process really fast. When funds permit, i'll take it to my tech. I don't
have access to a PC with SCSI.
I'd like to mount the E Synth ROM chip from my E4k (EOS 4.1) into my E Synth (EOS 3.2). it's a different (later ?) version,
and the sounds are way better. I love the keyboard feel and wish to use it as a controller. I might spring for a flash drive
at that point... when funds become available...

thanks.
