Problems connecting Emu to ZoeOS

Hello,
I have an E6400 Ultra and a copy of ZoeOs which, in the past, have been connected to each other through the SCSI connection with no problems.
However, when I moved house I decided to buy a new MIDI patch bay (a MOTU MIDI Express) and attempted to re-connect the E-mu to the computer but now I am unable to get them talking to each other.
The SCSI connection is fine between the PC and E-mu (as I can send samples over the SCSI connection from Wavelab to the E-mu) but ZoeOS cannot find the E-mu when it hunts for it.
In ZoeOS, when I try and couple the E-mu in the SMDI Manager I get a pop up box stating, "No midi devices available".
When I go into the MIDI Manager all ports are permitted and ZoeOs is seeing the MIDI Express ports (though "No details available" is listed in some of the ports' Description fields).
I have updated the ASPI layer to the latest one from Adaptec's web site but still they do not communicate.
Does anyone have any solution as to how I can rectify this? I have a feeling it has something to do with the MIDI connection as it was working fine with my older MIDI patch bay.
I am running Windows XP on Service Pack 3 and the MIDI Express is connected to the PC via USB.
Thanks,
Genome
