Will that 128mb work in the EMU? Man it would be sweet to have 256mb ram. Has anyone else looked for larger ram chips than 64mb?

Too bad that EMUs cant use more current ram these days. You can get 512 on one stick.........imagine having 1 gig of sample space!!!

It'd certainly be cool to be able to, but you can't  no that I've ever used my 128mb up totally anyhow...

OK ... I'm going to need some help on this one.

I've been running out of sample memory recently. (currently got 64megs - which is what my 6400ULT came with).

I called EMU (I'm thinking stocking stuffer) and they told me to ask for

RAM
50 Pin Sims
Low Profile
EDO / Non EDO
Parity / Non Parity

So if I tell my aunt to get a 64meg version of the stuff above (got no clue about what any of that means) I should be OK right?

Is there anything I need to know about installing it?

And just to clarify, it is the RAM that will give me more sample memory? (more memory to hold "active" samples - I save all my banks to zip anyway so not the kind of memory that saves samples when the EMU is turned off - I want the type of memory where when I hit MASTER, it won't show 100% full in the 3rd bar down anymore)?

Also, if I was to get 128meg card (? is that what you call it, a card?) would that be compatible, even if it was slightly unnecesary as I've seen from the previous posts).

Thanks for the help - I'm daft when it comes to this side of things.

Just put them in the right slots as in the hardware manual. You will get two "sticks" of ram, both 64 megs and it is the memory that is erased once he unit is powered down (volatile). Shouldn't cost your Aunt more than about $60 US or she is getting ripped off (and that's brand new). Very easy to install despite S&H's misgivings about it in another post somewhere...Nads. Just earth yourself b4 and it should be OK...it's not brain surgery...

OK now I'm confused. On the phone with EMU the lady (who didn't have a clue) told me to get 50 pin SIMMs but on the link you just gave they say that it's a 72 pin SIMMS.

So which is it?

If anyone could help out I'd greatly appreciate it. I've gotta tell my Aunt something tonight and would rather get this than a DVD and 'ting.

Thanks!
