I realised if you get this feature for a pretty cheap price you can route 16 outputs into an adat card in your computer and have massive control over 16 channels seperately , I think ?, the Emu site said it does not work with the E64, I guess this is a none ULTRA machine from the past.
Has anybody looked at this option . Now im thinking of getting a digital mixer , those yamaha 02R's are probably the best bet or a cheapo Behringer, the Behringer has effects too . But if you go into Logic I think you can probably have access to the massive individual effects system , ...any ideas on this tricky , but potentialy mindblowing scenario.

(ps. I dont believe you need the RFX installed either to get this upgrade.

I think the 16/8 adat is just a card and not an RFX card, but you dont need the rfx ,because you can send out to much more complex effects in computer or digi mixer, anyway I just went to the 'troubleshooting' area of this forum for the first time , shit , im going nowhere near that RFX piece , read some of the problems

I have the non-RFX ADAT expansion board for my studio setup and it works flawlessly.

I can route any sample to any of the 16 outputs and I have the ability to sample digitally (yes I know; some of you say the analogue converters sounds better) via any of the 8 digital ADAT inputs.

I find it very flexible and probably the best investment I ever did on my sampler.
Especially when I mix drums 8 outputs never seemed to be enough

sounds groovy, where does your lightpipe end up . I have a motu 828 which is very cool , it only has 8 digital channels though. first tried the firestation but thats a bitch to setup and configure , took that back.

Well .. Come back and take a look. You'll find a lot of stuff different I think. But DK is still a pretty safe place to live :-)

My 16 ADAT outs end up in a Creamware Pulsar / Pulsar II system.
I use this system primarely as a digital mixer and I am more happy using this system than I was using my two Yamaha 01v mixers some years ago.

So you mix inside the compuetr do you, im sick of mixing with a friggin mouse, my hands are going to cramp up and get stuck in a horrible claw, give me some digital faders , or a Logic Control , but Apple bought those motherfookers and stopped a lot of PC users enjoying their products.

I am going to get some box with motorfaders at some point. In that regard the 01V was a great mixer.

But give me a Radikal SAC2K, Mackie Remote Control, or something else with motorfaders and I am a happy puppy.

Other than that I really REALLY like my Pulsar cards (even though support is getting a little difficult due to Creamwares recent financial trouble).

I wouldn't go back to mixing on the 01V even though it's a fine digital mixer.

the 6313 is just for normal analogue outs - different option. If that's what you're wondering???

16 out (two sets of 8) and 8 in (one set of 8) AdaT optical, is what .

a word of advice , if you get the 16 out /8 in adat card and then think about getting the rfx later , they will not work together, proabably worth getting the $449 adat rfx, thats if you dont mind gambling your sanity.
And for those of you who cant part with their mackie analogs , you can get adat to analog boxes now

Hey y'all - I should know this, but would the ADAT card make it possible to run all my analog outs (16 of 'em!) and 16 channels of ADAT at the same time? Because that would be just insane Of course I realize that running 32 channels at once would require some very careful management of RFX resourses if I wanted FX on, but it would be worth it, I think.

Watch yourself with ADAT output card and a non-ultra Emu. The Emu has to be wordclock master, which doesn't play nice with my Mackie d8b. It has the Apogee clock card in it (Much superior to 90% of clock sources out there).

Unfortunately though the d8b will only sync to wordclock in, not to an individual light pipe, which is a problem as the non-ultras don't have wordclock out.
