Advantages of 4.7/writing EOS formatted ZIPs

So, I'm thinking about upgrading from 4.61 to 4.7 so that I can read FAT formatted zip disks (meaning i can write them from my pc).
I have an RFX card, and i'm aware of the potential problem (random outburst) but from what I understand there are some workarounds. The random panning thing exists in 4.61 anyway if i recall correctly?
So, other than the filesystem, what are the other advantages of 4.7 with RFX? I seem to remember something about realtime control of something... can anyone give me more details?
Alternatively, is there ANY way at all to write EOS formatted ZIP disks from my PC? Chicken systems translator?
I guess basically i'm trying to gather all in one place any info on 4.61 vs 4.7 with RFX... the bugs, the advantages, the workarounds... everything!
Peace
