Beats on the Emu ?

Hey guys
Got a question for you:
I got the E4x (so no Beatmunger) and i'm thinking about doing some drums on the Emu. So first off, would you recommand that ?
Right now i'm doing drums only in the box, but i was wondering if it's fun with t Emu.
The Problem is, that i don't know how to adapt my Workflow to the Emu. Right now i do the following things for beats:
- Use some Single Hit's (Main Kick & Snare and some HH's)
- Use loops or chop some loops to get parts or to rearrange a loop (with recycle or manually)
Then --> Layer the stuff together EQ Comp....
So in the Emu how could i do this ? (except for eq & comp)
Prepare a fixed tempo in the sequencer and have the emu running on the same speed, fix lenght of Loops and hit's in Sequencer record hit's to emu ? (this is the only solution i can imagin for bpm matching atm)
I got something like this in my head:
example preset containing: some breaks on some keys and then some single hit's like Bassdrum, Snare and HH's to layer to the Break.
Is this even worth the time ?
And is it good to work like this on the Emu OR would you rather not use the Emu for beats ?
thx for answers, cheers
