What's the deal?...

You have a SCSI DVD-Rom drive, right?
If so:
You want to load some files (Banks, Samples, etc.) from a CD-Rom, but EOS does not recognize the CD-Rom while the DVD-Rom drive seems to be able to read this CD-Rom, right?
If YES ... and you are using Windows:
Can you access this CD-Rom via Proteus VX on your PC via the internal DVD-drive?
(Proteus VX is freeware and available at http://www.emu.com)
If not possible: The CD-Rom seems to be damaged somehow.
If YES: Try to connect the SCSI DVD-Rom drive to your PC and try to load files into Proteus VX from the CD-Rom when it is inserted into the SCSI DVD-Rom drive.

If this all works, then EOS is not able to work with this SCSI DVD-Rom drive. EOS might hang while accessing the CD-Rom.
EOS has been developped at a time when DVD-Rom drives were not so common and especially Dual Layer DVD drives even not available.

If you are using EOS 4.70 with an E4 Ultra and you try to load from a CD-Rom that has been burned with a PC/MAC:
There is no chance because CD-Roms use an ISO-filesystem that is not supported by EOS. This has nothing to do with the FAT filesystem.
