Hello,
I just purchased a E4k off of Ebay. Im wondering what the upgrade path might be. For instance is there a way to install roms form other Emu products in the sampler? I have 1.5 version software should I upgrade? Any tips would be great.

Hello!

If you have a normal E4k Model (6900), you can update the EOS (Emu Operating System) to EOS 3.00.
Because the CPU RAM is only 1MB big.

If you have a E4K Turbo, than you have 4MB CPU Ram and you can update the EOS to the final 4.62.

And you can also upgrade the hardware:

RAM to a maximum of 128 MB.

Voices from 64 to 128.

A maximum of two ROM Boards (E-Synth and Orbit/Phatt)
If you want them, led me know. I have both of them and don´t need them.....

But for two Rom Boards you need an upgrade of the CPU RAM (4MB) or the E4K Turbo.....

They were even two Flash Rom Boards, 8Mb and 16MB. But they aren´t available anymore.....

The CPU Ram upgrade is possible for technicians.......because you have to desolder and solder two eproms.....
