newcomer EMU + Mac + zip with USB

Hi there, I'm new on here and have read about all sorts of ways in other threads about possible ways of transferring samples out of an EMU to a computer, the castlewood smart cable, chicken systems, CDextract etc. But I've not been able to find quite the duplication of what I have so apologies if this seems like a rehash of an old thread (I mean on lots of levels it definitely is) but it would be of much help to me.

I have a macbook pro on OS X 10.6.8
a lovely EMU ESI-32 with SCSI out going to a SCSI zip.

I can get access to an old G5 on OS 9 with soundEdit 16 and an old version of peak.

I'm wondering what EOS the ESI-32 is on and if I can get samples (ideally in their banks with key mapping etc so I can make a good backup of what I have) from my Zip into the Mac with a USB zip drive.

I haven't got loads of samples, don't own much software, (cubase and ableton), and would like to do it as cheaply as possible.

What is the best way forward?

Anyone in the North of England with a working file transfer setup who'd be up for a little job? Or is it easy enough.
Let me know and thanks and also apologies but I have dug about a bit and found different solutions but all involve buying a fair bit of stuff I don't have and don't need other than for this, hence this post.

Cheers. ;)

Well, I got a friend's Zip USB but unfortunately it's 100mb and my scsi one is 250mb (and my disks are also 250's so can't be read on the 100mb) The friend gave me some 100mb disks that he was happy for me to try but when I try to format them with the EMU it just says SCSI MEDIA ERROR - any ideas?

In disk utilities it can read them enough to tell me how much memory they've got on them and free space but when I go to format it's no dice. Hmmm.

Any help/advice on this subject would be much appreciated.
