Something Ive been meaning to ask.......

Ive been looking at how the E's route the effects sends. Ive always used external FX on multi outs but want to use the internal FX.

Can you send a small amount from each preset (ie, like an aux send on a mixer) when in Multimode? Setting your master amount in the global settings.
This seems like, this is what you should do but it never works as planned. Im not in front of an Emu at the mo, so will reply with a more detailed question later.

Continuous controllers A & B will now act as effect sends
Add this cord to each instrument to automate your sends.
If you don't have controller knobs use source ModWl (modulation wheel) as one send
