Hello everyone,

I've acquired an E4XT Ultra which included an Audity 2000 ROM in slot ROM 0. I installed two additional ROMs from a dead E6400 Ultra, which I believe are E-Synth and Orbit/Phatt ROMs.

However, I am not sure what one of the ROMs is:

AP530-00 - E-Synth
AP530-01 - (isn't this the Orbit/Phatt ROM?)
AP530-02 - Audity 2000 ROM

The Audity 2000 ROM is installed in ROM0.
The E-Synth ROM is installed in ROM1
The Orbit/Phatt ROM is installed in ROM2.

When I power on my E4XT Ultra, it shows ROM1 and ROM2 as being installed, but not ROM 3 as I would expect. When I browse for ROM contents, I only see two options....Audity 2000 and E-Synth. The hard drive installed in the E4XT already had Ultra ROM Presets. So when I load the E-Synth / Session bank from the HDD, the E-Synth presets are fine, but the Orbit/Phatt portion is missing the ROM samples. So it's basically just a bunch of saw waves taking the place of the Orbit/Phatt samples.

Could the AP530-01 ROM be fried somehow? Is there something I'm missing here regarding the total number of ROMs you can have installed and in which slots? Any info would be excellent.

Important is, that the E-Synth Rom Board is in Rom Slot 1, and the Orbit/Phatt Rom Board in Rom Slot 0!!!!

Try this with removing the Audity Rom!

PLEASE don´t forget that the maximum size of Rom Presets is 1000!!!!

So if you installed three Rom Boards, only Slot 0 and Slot 1 will be recognized!!!
E-Synths Board has 500 Presets and Orbit/Phatt has 500 Presets!

And don´t forget that the Audity board has only the samples/mappings, NOT the "real" Presets like in the Proteus 2000 range!!!!

And before you asked, why there are four Rom Slots:
IMHO i think, that people who works with Flash Roms (16 or 32MB) NOT often get 1000 Presets into their Rom Boards.
Perhaps E-mu had plans for a never published EOS, where you can manage more than 1000 Presets....

If you want to get in touch with the raw samples/mappings of the Audity board, remove the two other Roms and load the complete bank of the Audity into your Ultra (after installing the board!) from the disk menu.
Than save this bank to a harddisk or whatever.
After that, remove the Audity board and reinstall the other two boards.

Now you have 1000 Rom Presets, and the possibility to load everything from the Audity board (now it is a normal RAM sample bank)into your Ultra!

Excellent advice and info from Chris. Pulled the Audity ROM after copying the contents to hard drive / CF card. Now all is good. Thanks!
