What's the highest eos I can get on this sampler, is it 4.61 or 4.7?

Cheers

It's the 4.62 version.
Versions 4.61 and 4.70beta are just for the samplers of the Ultra-line.
Your E4x belongs to the "Classic-line" as I use calling it.

EMU/Creative Labs seem to have redesigned their website. Now all support for legacy instruments have been dropped.
The EOS-updates are no longer availabe on their website.

Cheers mate thought that was the case. What are the improvements/benefits with 4.7 are there more z-plane filters?

Most important improvement with EOS 4.7 is support for FAT-file system.
EOS file system works fine up to 20GB but with larger hard discs it is not running well.
FAT file system supports hard discs up to 128GB and you can exchange files with PC easier also for backup purposes.
When using a removeable media mass storage, you can import & export samples and complete banks.
With EMULATOR X3 you are able to edit your presets on a PC and export them to EOS again.

The number of Z-Plane filters has not changed.
Originally Filter Resonance is cast in hardware. EOS 4.7(beta) provides the opportunity to modulate the Resonance in real time. This is done by software. The filters can create some digital distortion because the volume is not reduced when increasing Q in real time, accentuating a frequency. The pure hardware solutuion attenuates the volume so that a distortion does not occure.
Here in the forum you can read that some people are not satisfied with the sound of this new feature.

There are also some minor updates for the RFX32 effects processor.
