Nice list. Sorry to ask about your favourite artists but I've been on so many boards who mention techno but listen to poop. I saw a really good Surgeon gig the other month.
I like the softer stuff too like Jan Jelinek and Matthew Herbert - any music with originality, exploration, comedy etc. In fact I like it all (waffle over).
As I said before the emu is great for this or any kind of stuff however it can be greatly enhanced by adding a few outboard bits and bobs too.

Yeah herbert is cool . That set that was posted is cool to , would be good to hear it at a better sample rate . I am in the process of ordering an rfx package with adat 8/16 , even before i get the sampler . I emailed emu and there is not many left .

Drayon - I can only totally disagree with you!
The 4 pole highpass is about the harshest, but it still doesn't compare to highpasses on other synths/samplers. With EMU filters you turn up the resonance and the volume goes down... Try the filter/resonance on say a (common) Roland JV/XP...ooh thats aggressive/dirty!
I can only think you must be distorting the sound somehow to believe this, or have got a faulty sampler
I'm not disputing EMU doesn't colour the sound - it does, but just not in the way your saying. I would describe it as silky smooth, minimal, subtle, pleasing colouring.
