ESi: getting data into sampler from PC?

hi people: newb' with some questions about methods of getting sample data
into my esi-4000:

i currently have internal zip fitted. but i'd like an easy way to transfer wavs i have
on PC to the sampler.
1/
i've seen 2 SCSI CF card-reader types: with a pcmcia adaptor, and - i think - straight CF readers.
(WHEN will there be aSCSI> SD card system?!).
this then needs a means of converting wav to esi format.
2/
or i could use the usb zip drive i got in the market the other day for 2.50eu as a bridge and just load
files onto a disk and then to the sampler...(i've got loads of zip disks)
3/
i just looked for SCSI pcmcia, and found some on ebay, with a centronics cable. apparently no guarantee
it would work under vista or xp, as it is for up to win2k.(and wrong centronics connector, i think...).
this could be a way for smdi with a laptop with pcmcia slot. has anyone tried this?
THEN...
i'm thinking it would be a lot easier to compile my banks on PC and load them to sampler as banks.
so i looked at converter apps:
awave: seems very good and converts a lot, but i couldn't find the esi/eIII format there! very surprised.
does it go under another name? or are any other formats from e-mu or other directly compatible?
i know i can only load akai via 'import' rather than 'load'
chicken system translator: i've actually bought this now, on their halfprice deal, and am still waiting for
delivery, so i hope that takes care of it. i was thinking of using virtual sampler, which someone gave me, to
compile presets and banks, and convert these to e-mu format.(haha, will it work...)...i'm one of these
people who wishes there was an easy drag n drop method of sample program creation, for all sample formats.
i'm amazed it doesn't exist yet, and i've 'served time' enough on an akai going the long way. i just want to get
loads of sounds into the machine, fast, and delete the ones i don't need.
i also got a scsi cdrom drive with the esi, and have at least one scsi hard drive. although jaz cartridges would
seem to make more sense...does Jaz work with e-mu scsi? i'm not too keen on the idea of burning cd's with esi-win,
but if it is recommended i might give it a go.
er, so, that is roughly where i'm at, these days, with samplers. i spent a long time in PC land and was spoilt by
all i could do there, but i'd like to get back to the sampler, in a more efficient context.
thanks for any interest in this subject. and info! cheers.
