Ive been wondering about the timing issue , my beats do seem kinda of sloppy , they always feel like they are speeding up , but fuck why cant a PC with Logic have good timing , I guess I have a good ear if I can hear the sloppiness, most people probably cant, I might just blow the dust off my MMT8 and use that , the trouble is it doesnt have 1/192 timing possibilities for all that rapid pusher shit, I think I could dump stuff from logic to the MMT8 , although my skill and patience is weak when it comes to fucking about with MIDI gear,

perhaps your beats are slightly slipping on the grid. you know instead of starting on 2:01:000 they are starting on 1:04:119, or something like that. do you have it where every thing snaps to the gird. that is what i do so things stay steady. oh, and you are possitive you didn't hit anything that would slowly make the tempo increase over time. i think my sequencer has an option like that.

anyways.

that was an entertaining post. i feel where you are coming from. I seriously doubt that i would want to sit there and what a concernt were they just sit at a computer. Sure i have a little studio, but believe me, i wouldn't be bringing in woman into it. they all say that it is cool that i have one, but after a few minutes their eyes are glazed over from boredom. but of course i think i would get bored too if i didn't know what was going on. You have to be into it to want to sit and watch some one work in the studio... or wanting to sing on a record... perhaps.

as for The Prodigy: I have been against them since the voodoo people single. I bought that cd and took it home and listened to it. I had to get my old album out (experiance) to see if possibly i bought a cd from the wrong band. I didn't and i was horrorified to see that they had sold out. then of course the whole fire starter and breath shit that came out on the album or so after that release. It was just garabage. I guess i was expecting to hear drum and bass or perhaps some rave-ish sounds. not industrial death metal shit. Kind of reminds me of goldie's obnoxious choon "temper" ehh. what a train reck that was.

but i could be wrong, it was just shocking to hear them change like that. it would be like picking up an outkast album and hearing country music on it. just culture shock i suppose.

good post though...

I soooooo understand where your're coming from when it comes to midi timing with the PC - it's the year 2004 and it still can't give you 0% latency I guess it's because the PC is doing other crap whilst it's playing midi - mate I'm still using my Atari and nothing comes close to it for timing . I respect the fact that it doesn't matter what you make your music on, if it sounds good - it's good, but as Djn goes - cds and mp3s are not about djn - it's all about vinyl - and of course my two EMUs.
