Zip-Drive instead of the floppy-drive

Hello everyone,
since I updated my E IV to EOS 4.6.2 I think that I do not need the floppy-drive any longer. I have an unused internal ZIP-drive (50-pin connection) and I want to replace the floppy-drive by the Zip-drive. When the E IV powers up, the screen shows " checking floppy ..." for a while. Is it necessary to have a floppy-drive (or another device) on this SCSI bus to which the floppy-drive is connected ? The connector on the motherboard to which the cable from the floppy-drive is put on, is 34-pin. On the other SCSI connector with 50 pins I have an internal hard disc. Has anyone experiences with connecting all internal SCSI devices in a chain to the internal 50-pin connector only and leaving the internal 34-pin connector unused. Or do I have to connect a drive to the internal 34-pin connector, probably by using an adaptor ?
Thank you in advance for your consideration
