WORKAROUND: Windows 7 64bit / VMWare / SCSI E-MU 6400 Ultra

Hi Guys,
I have just upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit and realised that there is no applicable ASPI layer for it. The Adeptec ASPI driver provided by Adaptec only works on 32 bit OS capped at XP.
This is the work around :
1. Install VMWare player.
2. Install Adaptec SCSI driver for Vista in Windows 7. (You will need to install the driver manually via the have disk and select the correnct inf file)
3. Veryfy that the 8 EMU instances are present in device manager
4. Install Windows XP in the VMWare player.
5. Add custom hardware during VMWare player guest OS installation > Add Generic SCSI Device > add all 8 EMU SCSI instances from dropdown list.
6. Once Windows XP is intalled the EMU sampler should be visible in the device manager.
7. Download the ASPI layer from Adaptec and install in Windows XP.
8. Execute the ASPI Check program bundled with the ASPI layer and verify that the ASPI layer is installed.
9. Open Zero-X BeatCreator (For batch sample transfer) or Soundforge to which the Sampler should be visible.
10. Transfer your favourite samples across.
I have been experimenting with Zuonics ZoEOS which works in Windows 7 64bit however no ASPI layer means that you cannot transfer over SMDI. At present I use BeatCreator in the XP guest to send the samples across to the sample and ZoEOS in Win7 to manage the patch.
Hope this helps guys - it took days to figure out
