I see this but i'm wondering:

(I'm using an E-Synth keyboard btw)

a) who found this out and how,

b)who has carried it out (the reversing of polarity?) successfully, in addition to looking for a step to step guide to doing it myself (or a guide i could get an electrician friend to follow)

I don't want to be frying anything...

I did it, and all is fine. It tells you how to do it for an IDE drive here: http://www.basscadets.co.uk/emu/faq.htm - it works just the same for a SCSI drive (only use the SCSI connector on the Emu motherboard, not the IDE connector, and make sure it's a SCSI cable).[/url]

Done it! Don't be scared...just look at the motherboard and it will indicate the +ve terminal (or -ve, i can't quite remember), connect your power cable to the sampler and drive (unpowered) and you will see which cable should go where. Push the pins out at the drive end and swap them over and doublecheck the polarities (with a multimeter arced on the pins--individually) exposed at the drive end of the cable when you have powered up with the drive disconnected (just try not to arc across two pins simultaneously). It is really dead simple. I did it without the multimeter and it worked fine I just can't remember the specifics and don't want to unrack my Ultra for one post, Best~ Nads.

i made my own cable and it works absolutely perfect.

dont spend those 60 quid on a cable you can solder in about 2 mins
