just a quick question to see if the E5000 Ultra is able to be upgraded to 128 polyphony from 64?

also- i tend to assume that the E5000 Ultra is itself a 'higher' version of the E4XT ultra... and the E6400 Ultra is higher yet... wondering then why when most time i hear or read people talking about and recommending Emu samplers that it is usually the E4XT and the E6400 that get mentions, and not the E5000? Are there any drawbacks to the E5000 Ultra as compared to the other ultra models?

ok so i just read the SOS review on this beast from 1999- and i have discovered that the polyphony is in fact not upgraedable to 128 on this model.

As well it appears that the E5000 Ultra is in fact a budget version of the E4XT Ultra (and the E6400 Ultra to some extent)...

any comments regarding the E5000 Ultra when com pared to the E4XT or the E6400 are still very much welcome... let's hear em

i own one. and i love it. i think the reason why it is the "budget" model is because it didn't have the upgradeable stuff in it. but i could be wrong. from what i understand, all the ultras are the same except the e4. from my understanding the e4 has just a tone more stuff. i think some one on here commented that that machine was a kind of over kill. alot of the stuff was kind of bells and wistles. but like i said, i might be wrong.

it is a good machine. polyphony isn't too much of a problem if you keep stuff in mono.

Maybe some here who has experiance with all the models could comment on what one he/she likes best. i have only worked on the 5000 so i really don't know all that much about the other models. all i know is what i have read.

I was going to buy the E4XT Ultra or 6400, but it was too much for me.
The 6400 comes with a harddrive, and the e4xt comes with fully featured synth tools and with a harddrive and all eight expansions and 128 polyphony ...something like that...i got the pdf of the ultra family somewhere.
